David Amsler - President & CIO

David Amsler is founder of Foreground Security, named by Inc. magazine as one of
the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. With more than 15 years of IT security experience, Mr. Amsler oversees the overall customer-centric vision and direction of Foreground Security, its industry-leading offerings, and day-to-day operations. He dedicates himself to active involvement with designing cutting-edge solutions for its customers, ensuring they derive the greatest value from the company’s services.

He leads Foreground Security’s highly-credentialed and experienced analyst and engineering teams in creating in-demand security programs, end-to-end architectures and security operations centers for top global financial companies, power/utility companies and government agencies--the latter representing mission-critical operations of the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and Department of Health and Human Services. He has earned numerous certifications and recognitions in the IT space, including CISSP, MCP, MCSE, MCT, CISM, Security+, CCSE, CCSA, CCNA, CCSP, CEH, CHFI and NSA IAM/IEM.

Given his level of expertise and knowledge, Mr. Amsler has taught more than 350 information security courses to top government organizations, including the Internal Revenue Service, National Security Agency, Department of Defense, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Defense Information Systems Agency and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. In addition, he has developed policies and procedures that are now documented and recognized as key, operational standards for numerous government agencies. As a result, he remains a distinguished leader and strategic consultant to high-level executives throughout the globe especially within the information security auditing and testing arena.

In great demand as an industry thought leader, Amsler has spoken at a large number of prestigious conferences, including the Government Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams (GFirst), BlackHat, GovSec and RSA. He has appeared frequently in many influential publications, such as Government Computer News, Fed Tech Bisnow, Security Week, Federal Computer News, Dark Reading and SC Magazine.

Prior to founding Foreground, Mr. Amsler was Senior Vice President at Cyberspann, a service provider in the communications, information technology and IT security arenas. He holds bachelor’s degrees in business administration and political science from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.

 

Alison Kidd - Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing

As Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Alison is responsible for creating new sales opportunities and building the corporate brand. In this role, she is tasked with overseeing global sales efforts and creating integrated marketing programs that drive industry awareness for Foreground Security's leading security services. Alison also works with the company's sales and services teams to create offerings and deliver services that enable customers to optimize their security investments, implement proactive policies and customize responses, so they can derive the increased protection unavailable from off-the-shelf solutions.

Prior to joining Foreground Security, Alison was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at CertiPath. Previously, she held executive positions at BMC Software with responsibility for sales in the financial, IT, manufacturing, retail and healthcare industries. In addition, Alison worked at Cybertrust, where she managed and drove sales efforts, helping the company grow from 21 to 250 million in annual revenue. During her tenure there, she was recognized as the sales executive of the year for several consecutive years.

With more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience, including 10 years in the information security services industry, Alison provides Foreground Security with a strong track record of building demand and adoption for security solutions and services throughout Fortune 500 and government organizations.

Adam Cresswell - Director of Finance and Human Resources

Adam Cresswell joined Foreground Security in 2009 as the Director of Finance and Human Resources. Adam is responsible for the organizations overall financial and accounting systems, processes, and financial position. As well, Adam oversees all aspects of Human Resources management including compliance, benefits, employee relations, and compensation. With over 10 years of finance and 4 years of human resource experience, Adam provides strong guidance and leadership to Foreground Security. In addition to his profession, Adam stays actively involved in his local church, serving as a leader for many church functions. He serves as a board member on Presbyterian College's Alumni Board, Presbyterian College's Athletic Alumni Board, Pi Kappa Alpha Memorial Fund - Mu Chapter, Triumph Over Tragedy Foundation, South Carolina Waterfowl - Midland Chapter, and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. He is a graduate of Leadership Rockdale County, GA and Leadership Columbia, SC. Adam graduated from Presbyterian College with a B.S. in Business Management.

 

Mark Orlando - Director of Cyber Operations

As the Director of Cyber Operations, Mark is responsible for Foreground's Federal practice as well as the V-SOC managed service. He leads a national team of analysts, engineers, incident responders, and managers who secure some of the most high profile networks in the Federal, financial, commercial, and power and utility industries. As the senior operations subject matter expert, he is also responsible for security service strategy and advises on strategic Foreground initiatives such as threat intelligence analysis, custom analytics development. Mark is a key advisor to our award-winning educational unit, Foreground University.

Prior to joining Foreground Security, Mark advanced through the technical ranks as a Security Analyst and Technical Lead in a variety of operations environments. In his 13+ years of experience, he has built and led security operations teams at the White House, the Department of Energy, the Pentagon, and numerous commercial organizations. He has also managed the operations division of a major Managed Security Service Provider supporting hundreds of private and public sector clients. Mark enjoys teaching and learning from others. He has presented on security operations and assessment at the Institute for Applied Network Security Forum and RSA Conference. Mark has earned the CISSP, PMP, CEH, ITIL, and multiple SANS GIAC certifications and holds a B.S. In Advanced Information Technology from George Mason University. Mark served in the US Marine Corp where he was a Marine Artillery NCO.

 

Ryan Shaw - Director of Research and Development

Ryan Shaw is the Director of Research & Development at Foreground Security. He has proactively designed and developed threat intelligence and malware analysis solutions to automate time consuming functions for resource constrained security operations teams. His work has been recognized by Federal and commercial clients for innovation and cost savings.

At Foreground Security, Ryan leads the research and development teams, defines technical strategy, and facilitates operational success. Since joining the company, Ryan has played an integral role in the establishment of Foreground's Virtual Security Operations Center (V-SOC) and the delivery of their revolutionary Automated Threat Intelligence Platform (ATIP).

Prior to joining Foreground Security, Ryan spent fifteen years leading applied research, development, and focused operations teams for a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and multiple Federal contracting startups.

 

George Baker - Director of Professional Services

As Director of Professional Services, George is responsible for ensuring a high level of client satisfaction through Foreground's security services and all aspects of service delivery. He leads Foreground's team of highly experienced security engineering and assessment consultants in designing, implementing, and evaluating client cyber security programs, software development life cycles (SDLCs), security architectures, and operational security capabilities. Through a range of offerings including Blue/Red teams, network/host-level assessments, and web application penetration testing, George and his team drive efficiencies and cost savings across a wide portfolio of client engagements. His team has significant experience and focus in the government, financial services, healthcare, technology, and energy sectors.

Prior to joining Foreground, George was Director of Information Security at Exostar LLC, a cloud service provider that delivered identity management, collaboration, and supply chain services to the aerospace & defense, life sciences, and financial services communities. He has over 20 years of experience in IT and complex systems implementation, and over ten years in information security, including security policy development and public key infrastructure (PKI) technologies.

He holds the CISSP certification and a B.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
